Steve Goodman serves as Superintendent of Tom Bean ISD and considers his work in education much more than a career - it is a calling to serve students, families, staff, and the community.
Steve began his career as a special education teacher before moving into campus and district leadership. Over the years, he has served as a Special Education Coordinator in Lovejoy ISD, Dean of Students in Plano ISD, Principal in Prosper ISD and Tom Bean ISD, Assistant Superintendent in Tom Bean, and Superintendent of Tom Bean ISD (since February of 2023).
These career experiences have shaped his belief that the most important part of leadership is people. Steve believes every student deserves to be known - not just by name, but by their strengths, needs, dreams, and potential. His leadership philosophy is built on relationships, trust, transparency, and being present. He believes the best decisions begin with one simple question: What is best for students?
As a leader, Steve strives to be visible, approachable, and willing to listen. He believes schools are strongest when families, educators, students, and community members work together toward a shared purpose. He is especially passionate about the unique opportunities found in a small school district, where relationships and community connections can make a lasting difference.
Outside of school, Steve’s greatest priorities are his faith and family. He and his wife, Cristina, have been married for nearly 20 years. They have a son, Brendan, and an adult “adopted” son, Eduardo. The Goodman family enjoys sports, traveling, spending time together, and supporting the kids in TB across their many activities.
For Steve, leadership is ultimately about serving others, building relationships, and making a positive difference—Every Student, Every Day.
